Need subtitles? Free Chrome guideDesktop captions and optional English translation

Use Chrome’s built-in captions. No extension or website subscription is needed. These are automatic browser captions, not reviewed lesson subtitles.

  1. Open this page in Google Chrome (opens in a new tab) on a computer.
  2. Open the Chrome menu → Settings → Accessibility. On Linux, also open Captions.
  3. Turn on Live Caption. Under Manage languages → Add languages, download the language spoken in the video and select it as Preferred caption language. For Chinese speech, choose Chinese if available.
  4. Return here, play the video and turn its sound on. Captions appear in Chrome’s movable bubble.

For English: if Live Translate is available, turn it on and set Translate to → English.

Options vary by device, version and language. If missing, update Chrome or consult Google. Automatic captions may mishear Tai Chi terms.

Live Caption processes audio on your device. Optional Live Translate sends captions to Google.
